MSHP: One person dead after I-29 crash

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly wreck involving two St. Joseph residents. The Patrol says it happened on southbound I-29, near 169 Highway, at 4:18 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say 37-year-old Chet Lake Jr. was pushing a 2005 BMW X3 in the driving lane when a 2017 Nissan Sentra, being driven by 27-year-old Bryton Bohon, slammed into the rear of the BMW.

Lake Jr. was taken to Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph with serious injuries. Bohon was pronounced dead at the scene, but authorities haven't said if his death was caused by the accident.
